Gilas goes berserk in fourth to maul Japan

TAIPEI—Gilas Pilipinas used a fourth quarter run to take down Japan, 75-60, in their Jones Cup tiff at the Xinchuang Gymnasium on Wedney.

Gilas picked up the pace from a third quarter buzzer-beater from Terrence Romeo and began the fourth on an 18-4 run to take a 64-48 lead highlighted by a couple of rim-rattlers by Moala Tautuaa.

Japan began converting its baskets late in the fourth, but it was already a bit late as Gilas sealed the victory with triples in the end.

Tautuaa had an good outing with ten points, seven rebounds, and two assists in a game where Asi Taulava was given a rest in time for a huge showdown with Hamed Haddadi and Iran on Thursday.
