SAN JUAN, MM--With the return of their guest player, Din-Din Santiago-Manabat, the National University (NU) Bulldogs played inspired volleyball to get a straight set victory over the Ateneo Lady Eagles, 25-22, 25-17, 25-17.

The Lady Eagles were leading the Championship Series of the Shakey’s V-League before NU snatched Game 2.

The Bulldogs all throughout the match were quick on their feet as they were able to dig up most of Ateneo’s powerful spikes.

The floor and net defense of NU were also on point as the Lady Eagles had a difficult time tallying points even from their main gunner Alyssa Valdez.

To add to the Lady Eagles’ woes, their service reception was also missing during the entirety of the match that allowed NU to string up a couple of service aces.

From the get go of the match NU was quick to establish a commanding lead propelled by Myla Pablo’s attacks.

Ateneo tried to counter with runs of their own but NU was quick to extinguish any of Ateneo’s attempts to catch fire.

The predominantly Ateneo crowd was stunned with NU’s display of offense and defense.

Pablo was named player of the game after she scored 12 attack points.

Alyssa Valdez was not in her element during the game and, for only the second time this conference, failed to score in double-digits as she was only limited to just 9 points.

There was also a big question mark in the Loyala squad’s offense as it failed to get answers from Ateneo’s usual reliables- Ahomiro, Gequillana and Maraguinot who all finished the match with 6 points apiece.

The winner-take-all Game 3 between the two squads will happen on October 4.

Box Score:

NU (3): Santiago. J 13, Manabat 12, Pablo1 2, Singh 8, De Leon 5, Urdas 3

ADMU (0): Valdez 9, Gequillana 6, Ahomiro, 6, Maraguinot 6, De Leon, 6, Tan 1
