MANILA--Have Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza found a match to their split-screen loveteam?
Filipino basketball fans could not help but get awed to a budding loveteam of sort between GlobalPort guard Terrence Romeo and Taiwanese reporter Jenny Yu.
What many called the Chinovela-style "Kalye Serye", or some even called "Basket Serye" and "Gilas Serye", began when the Taiwanese fans saw the resemblance between Romeo, who sizzled early into his Jones Cup campaign with Gilas, and popular local club DJ Catfish.
Yu was then tapped to interview Romeo for some side stories, putting an initial spark to the "loveteam".
Then, the Gilas Serye went into a major plot twist when reports from Taipei surfaced that Yu asked Romeo, "Can I be your Juliet?"
Then, the netizens expressed their "kilig" online.
First, an administrator of the Facebook page "PBA Memes" posted a stern warning.
Kabahan na kayo Aldub fans. #RomYu

Sports 5 correspondent Carlo Pamintuan also joined the RomYu craze and tweeted

Unfortunately, the "Gilas Serye" will be short-lived as Gilas is down to its final two games in the Jones Cup.
Also, Gilas has plot twists of its own as Romeo, who sat out on Friday, remains doubtful for the said matches owing to an ankle injury suffered during the Iran clash on Thursday and Andray Blatche, who was initially available for the last two games, had his flight to Taipei from America rebooked, making him out for the said tiffs.
