WUHAN--Promotion secured.
Perlas Pilipinas booked a seat in the top flight of the FIBA Asia Women's Championship with an 82-76 victory India in the promotion-relegation playoff on Friday.
Perlas went on an offensive show in the second and third quarters, bucking a slow start to open a 57-39 lead.
India threatened to steal the win as the team cut the lead to as close as four, but the Philippine team held on in the end.
Afril Bernardino led Perlas, which finished its 2015 FIBA Asia campaign with a 5-1 record, with 32 points, while Aliana Lim added 20.
Perlas will join China, South Korea, Chinese-Taipei, and Japan in Division 1 for the 2017 edition, where berths for the 2018 FIBA Women's World Cup are at stake.
