BACK IN MANILA | RMS to host Azkals-Yemen WCQ game

MANILA--The historic Rizal Memorial Stadium will once again host a FIFA World Cup qualifier as PFF general secretary Ed Gastanes announced that the said venue will be the site of a crucial showdown between the Philippine Azkals and Yemen.

Gastanes announced in the Hans On podcast on Tuesday that Rizal Memorial, which last hosted a WCQ match in 2011, will stage the Azkals-Yemen match on Nov. 12

"We'll have our home game against Yemen in Rizal Memorial Stadium on Nov. 12," Gastanes said in the said podcast's live broadcast.

The announcement is expected to be a good news for the Metro Manila-based Azkals fans who find the Philippine Sports Stadium too far.

The said pitch in Bocaue hosted the Azkals' first two home games of the second round of the WCQ but drew low crowd turnouts in both matches.

With the Azkals' next home match in Manila anew, a better attendance is expected.

The Azkals will be on the road against North Korea on Oct. 8 and Bahrain on Oct. 14.
