PASAY--Fresh from their World Cup qualifier win over Yemen at home in Tashkent on Thursday, the Uzbekistan national team arrived on Sunday night, two days before locking horns with the Philippines in another WCQ encounter.
In an Instagram post by Maj Año, the head of international telations of the Philippine Football Relations, the Uzbeks arrived on their flag carrier at 8:39 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Samvel Babayan’s side needed a magic from Alexander Geynrikh to pull off a 1-0 on Yemen at Pakhtakor Stadium on Thursday, the same day the Azkals defeated Maldives in a friendly in Rizal.
As of this writing, there is no announcement on when they will train in the country to prepare.
