San Juan, MM—The NCAA playoff race became more wilder entering the penultimate day of the elimination round.

Arellano banked on an explosion from Jio Jalalon to blast San Beda, 91-72, at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Thursday night.

Jalalon scorched for 25 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and two steals as the Chiefs torched the Red Lions from the start for their 11th victory in 17 games, completing a sweep of their elimination series.

Ola Adeogun had 17 points for San Beda, which lost a regular season series for the first time since Calvin Abueva-led San Sebastian went 2-0 against the team in 2012.

The Chiefs join the JRU Heavy Bombers and the Perpetual Help Altas in a logjam for third, while the Red Lions, at 12-5, dropped to a half-game behind

The result increased the possibility of a five-way tie for second with two triple-headers left.
