MANILA--With the strength of Typhoon "Lando" expected to be felt in Metro Manila on Sunday, the PBA decided to postpone the opening of its brand-new season.

In an official statement from Commissioner Chito Narvasa, the league opted to reschedule the opening ceremonies supposed to take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The said event plus the succeeding match-up between Star and Rain or Shine will now happen on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena beginning at 4:15 p.m.

Because of the said development, TicketNet, the ticket provider for Smart Araneta Coliseum events, started giving away the refunds to those who already bought passes to the PBA opening as the Mall of Asia Arena uses a different ticket provider for its events, SM Tickets.

A new Philippine Cup schedule is expected to be released before Wednesday, although it is uncertain to this moment if all the fixtures will take place one playdate later than scheduled or only the scheduled Wednesday doubleheader that will have the Barako Bull-Mahindra and the Ginebra-Meralco games will be moved to a later date.
