QUEZON CITY--Rumors about a possible Ateneo coaching rigodon began to surface when the team dropped its last two games in the first round following a four-game winning streak.
One more loss later, the man of the hour, Coach Bo Perasol, confirmed the soon-to-happen shakeup.
Perasol told the press moments after the Blue Eagles were downed by the FEU Tamaraws on Sunday that he is not going to renew his three-year contract as coach, which will end this season.
"It’s my final year, and meron na kaming agreement that this is going to be my last year, regardless [of whether we win the title or not],” the veteran mentor said.
Perasol also said that he is not taking the pinpointing by fans on him for the recent Ateneo struggles personally.
He added, "It’s natural that I get the blame because I’m the leader. I really don’t take that personally.”
The Blue Eagles dropped to 4-4 after the loss, just a full game above three other teams for the last Final Four slot with six games left.
Asked about his future, the former UP Fighting Maroon, who made two PBA Finals appearances, bared that he put to hold some other coaching offers.
Perasol further uttered, “Ang mga offers ko are from outside, but I don’t talk to them [for now], because meron [pa] akong obligation dito."
