JAKARTA--Batang Gilas may not be in the semifinals of the FIBA Asia U16 Championship, but the team still wants to end the tournament on a high note.
Batang Gilas dominated ASEAN neighbor Thailand and cruised to an 81-46 win in a consolation game at the Britama Arena on Friday.
Batang Gilas banked on a 33-9 second quarter to turn the match to a rout and beat Thailand for the second time in the continental event. Batang Gilas downed Thailand in the first round, 70-51.
Javi Gomez De Liano led five Batang Gilas players in double figures with 16 points along with nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
No Thai player scored in twin digits with Natthaworn Banchathon the high-point man with nine markers.
Batang Gilas will meet either Lebanon or Kuwait on Saturday for fifth place.
