SAN JUAN, MM--Foton pulled a huge shocker in the semifinals of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix, downing Philips, 25-18, 26-24, 18-25, 20-25, 15-8, in their win-or-go-home clash at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Thursday night.
The fourth-seeded Lady Tornadoes lost a 2-0 lead but put on a show in the deciding set to oust the top-seeded Lady Slammers.
Lindsay Stalzer led Foton, which will await the winner of the other semifinal pairing between Petron and Cignal in the best-of-three championship beginning on Monday, with 29 points on 26 spikes and three blocks, seven coming in Set 5. Jaja Santiago and Katie Messing added 15 and 13 each for the Tornadoes.
Bojana Todorovic, who helped spark Philips' uprising in the third and fourth sets, finished with 31 hits, but she lost steam in the final frame.
