MANILA--Kaya Futbol Club announced on Monday the permanent appointment of Chris Greatwich as its new manager ahead of next season, three months after leading the club to the UFL Cup and qualification in the AFC Cup play-off last season.

The former Azkal sweeper, who made his memorable international career with clutch goals against Singapore, Vietnam, and Maldives, joined the club in 2013, in which he also is the director of the club’s academy.

Greatwich scored eight goals in 32 league appearances with Kaya in his three seasons there.

Greatwich was provisionally appointed as player-manager after Fabien Lewis left in the middle of last season’s UFL Cup knockout stages.

In accepting the job, Greatwich quoted in a statement, “It is with great honor that I take over as the head coach of Kaya FC. I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years as a player here, but it is now time for me to undertake a new challenge. I am incredibly excited to see what we can do in the upcoming seasons.”
