PASIG--Stanley Pringle showed an example of leading a team from start to finish.
Pringle led the way for GlobalPort with 27 points and also nailed the game-winner as the team gave Rain Or Shine its first loss of the PBA Philippine Cup with a 113-111 victory on Friday night at the PhilSports Arena.
Pringle scored on a layup with 0.5 second left to save the Batang Pier from completely dropping the game after leading by double digits late in the match.
GlobalPort led, 102-91, with 6:39 remaining in the game, but Rain Or Shine scored six straight points, the last four coming from Jericho Cruz, to cut the gap to five with 4:56 to go.
The Batang Pier restored some control when Doug Kramer scored on a field goal and Rico Maierhofer added a free throw to put the lead back to eight, 105-97, with 4:05 remaining.
But a 6-1 Elasto Painters again chopped the advantage to three, 106-103, with 2:44 left on the clock.
Billy Mamaril connected on a tip-in and Joseph Yeo made a split from the line to put the lead back to six, 109-103, with 2:11 left.
But Gabe Norwood made both his own free throws and Jeff Chan scored off a steal to cut the lead to just two, 109-107, with 1:14 to go.
Terrence Romeo converted his own pair of charities to stretch the distance between the two teams to four, 111-107, with 1:04 on the clock.
But Chan scored on a long two-pointer with 44 seconds remaining to again bring ROS to within two, 109-111.
The team got a chance to tie when Romeo missed a jumper and Beau Belga secured the rebound, leaving 17 seconds on the timer.
Belga then made two free throws off a Mamaril foul to equalize the count at 111 apiece with 14 seconds left.
Pringle then went on a hesitation move and got past three defenders for the marginal basket with half a second remaining.
Chan failed to beat the buzzer as he only released the ball off a jumper when time already expired. He eventually missed the shot.
Pringle, who had a double-double in points and rebounds on Sunday against Barako Bull, flirted with another double-double as he grabbed eight boards along with five assists and one steal.
Romeo and Keith Jensen also made the 20-point mark for GlobalPort by tallying 25 and 21 respectively.
Belga finished with 23 markers on 6-of-9 field goal shooting for ROS, which fell again to a four-way tie at the top of the table at 3-1.
