HO CHI MINH--Saigon needed a late push before trouncing Malaysia, 91-82, in their ABL meeting in front of a sold-out crowd at the CIS Arena on Saturday night.
The Heat appeared to be heading to a rout as they closed the third quarter on a 15-4 run to take a 67-61 lead.
But they conceded an 8-2 Dragons run that forced a 69-all deadlock with 7:24 remaining in the final period.
Saigon reestablished control by opening a 15-5 rally that opened a ten-point cushion, 84-74, with 3:25 left and never looked back.
Moses Morgan and Lenny Daniel each tallied 22 points for the Heat, which moved up to 2-3.
Matt Wright finished with 24 markers for the Dragons, but he had to play extended minutes as Calvin Godfrey suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of the game. Godfrey's departure paved the way for the Heat's surge.
