FOR THE second straight year, there is no Ateneo and La Salle in the UAAP men's basketball finals, but this time around, many had UST and FEU going at it for the pennant. Here's a lookahead to the championship series.

History: UST and FEU may be the teams of the 90's, but they never faced each other in a UAAP Finals during that decade. In fact, the last time they met in the last dance was in 1979. The Tamaraws beat the Growling Tigers, then known as the Glowing Goldies, for the crown.

What Now: Both UST and FEU finished the regular season with identical 11-3 records. However, two of the Tams' three defeats came against the Tigers, giving the latter the top seed. FEU ousted Ateneo on a last-second follow-up by Mac Belo, while UST dethroned NU in the other semis pairing.

Key Match-Up: Kevin Ferrer vs. Mac Belo-Two SEA Games gold medalists and potential PBA first round picks will go at it in what could be their last stand. Ferrer and Belo, both playing the three-position, have been vital for their respective teams, and expect them to give their all.
