QUEZON CITY--Third seed University of the East and No. 4 Ateneo collide in a do-or-die match on Saturday in the UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball step-ladder semifinals.
Gametime is at 10 a.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the winner facing second seed De La Salle in the second step-ladder semifinals next week.
Titleholder NU is in the Finals with a thrice-to-beat incentive after completing a second straight 14-0 elimination round sweep.
The Lady Archers, meanwhile, have the twice-to-beat bonus after ending up in second spot at 12-2.
The league’s surprise package this season, the Lady Warriors of coach Aileen Lebornio finished third in the elimination round with a 7-7 record, a game ahead of the 6-8 Lady Eagles.
Ateneo outlasted University of Santo Tomas, 63-54, in overtime in last Wednesday’s playoff to complete the semis cast.
