QUEZON CITY--UE finished its UAAP men's basketball season on a high note with a 79-67 win over UP at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
The Red Warriors, whose slim chance of making the Final Four was eradicated by the NU Bulldogs' win over the FEU Tamaraws on Saturday, outscored the Fighting Maroons, 20-10, in the second quarter to open a double-digit spread that they would cling on until the end.
Clark Derige again led UE's charge with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and an assist, while Paul Varilla added 14 points, six rebounds, and one assist.
In his final game for UE, which finished the season in sixth place at 6-8, Chris Javier chipped in 13 markers, six caroms, three dimes, and a block.
Paul Desiderio ended his sophomore UAAP season with a bang as he matched his career-high of 26 points along with six rebounds, one assist, and one block for UP, which tied Adamson for seventh place at 3-11.
