MANILA--La Salle formalized the entry of former Letran coach Aldin Ayo into its fray as the new chief tactician for next year's UAAP season.

An official statement made by La Salle's Office of Sports Development on Wednesday night officially named Ayo, who steered the Knights to the NCAA title in October, the new Green Archers coach.

"Upon deliberation of a search committee and consultation with the administration and alumni, De La Salle University is pleased to announce that Aldin Ayo is the new head coach of the men's basketball team.... The university welcomes Coach Aldin to the La Sallian community as he charts the new direction of the Green Archers," the statement read.

Ayo's move to La Salle became the talk of the town last month when initial reports broke out about it.

The then rumors eventually became true when Letran's team management confirmed the news. Ayo himself then announced the said development during the Knights' victory party at Letran's Manila campus on Nov. 18.

Ayo, who replaced Juno Sauler, will now hold the responsibility to take charge of the Archers, who will have the Prince Rivero, Andrei Caracut, the graduating Jeron Teng, and incoming rookie Ben Mbala as their vital cogs.

On the other hand, the Knights have yet to name their new coach for next year's NCAA title defense, although team consultant Glenn Capacio is expected to steer them in their PCCL semifinal match against the San Beda Red Lions on Thursday.
