MANILA--Jericho Cruz led Rain Or Shine's charge this past week, earning the nod of the PBA Press Corps for him to be named the Accel Player of the Week.

The former Adamson Soaring Falcon scored 23 points, making eight of ten shots, against Barako Bull while delivering key baskets in the clutch against Ginebra.

For Cruz, his valuable contributions for the Elasto Painters is his way of repaying Coach Yeng Guiao for the trust in him with star combo guard Paul Lee still out with an injury.

“Lagi ngang sinasabi ni Coach Yeng sa amin na someone has to fill in the gap dahil nga injured si Paul. And ako, it boosts my confidence especially since halos 25 minutes ang binbigay ni Coach sa akin so ako, sinusuklian ko lang si Coach,” Cruz said.

He also expressed gratitude to Lee for mentoring him and making him what he is right now.

“He’s been teaching me a lot on how to play defense and I really learned a lot from him. Kaya sa kanya ako kumukuha ng tips,” Cruz revealed.

Rain Or Shine is currently enjoying a week off and will return to action on Sunday against Talk 'n Text.
