MANILA--Franz Pumaren promised one thing upon being formally introduced as the new coach of Adamson for the 2016 UAAP season.

"We’re here to give Adamson a championship," said the veteran mentor during a press conference at the Adamson campus on Friday.

Pumaren, who became known in the college basketball world for giving La Salle four straight UAAP titles from 1998-2001, will now take charge of a Soaring Falcons team raring to go back to the semifinals after four straight sluggish seasons including this year.

He will take over Mike Fermin, who will still be a part of the coaching staff, but Pumaren still lauded the former coach for putting up a good fight this past season.

“Coach Mike surprised a lot of teams in the season,” the new coach evaluated the incumbent tactician's season highlighted by a huge upset over La Salle.

The Falcons' matches against the Green Archers next year will be anticipated ones since Pumaren, who recently coached Air21 in the PBA, will be facing his alma mater team.

Also being watched out next year is the Pumaren Derby between Coach Franz and Coaches Derrick and Dindo at UE.
