BANGKOK--Hi-Tech Bangkok quickly recovered from its first loss of the ABL season with a 77-65 takedown of Mono Vampire in their second "Battle of Bangkok" at the Hi-Tech Gym on Wednesday night.
Hi-Tech Bangkok, however, had to put up the huge recovery in the third quarter after Mono Vampire built a huge second quarter run to make it a ballgame.
Hi-Tech Bangkok appeared to be heading to a rout after opening a 24-9 first quarter lead, but Mono Vampire outscored the host club, 20-8, in the second to trim the gap to three, 32-29, at halftime.
Hi-Tech Bangkok put the game beyond doubt after the third period, going for a 23-14 quarter to take a 55-43 advantage which the club protected in the fourth.
Tyler Lamb played efficient basketball with 26 points, three rebounds, two assists, four steals, and no turnover for Hi-Tech Bangkok, which bucked its 65-84 defeat to Malaysia at the same arena two nights back and moved up to 5-1.
Retdech Kuatiwa led Mono Vampire, which failed to follow up from its breakthrough win against Pilipinas last week and slipped to 1-6.
Hi-Tech Bangkok, which won, 80-74, in their first meeting on Nov. 4, swept both of the Hi-Tech Gym legs of the Bangkok Derby against Mono Vampire. They will play their last two meetings at the Chulalongkorn University Gymnasium, Mono Vampire's turf, on Jan. 9 and 23.
