MANILA--In the final week of the PBA Philippine Cup eliminations that saw some players drawing inspired performances to lead their teams to a better seeding, it was Sean Anthony's superb outing that stood out.

Anthony was once again hailed as the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week on Monday after steering NLEX to a shock victory over Rain Or Shine.

The 6-4 forward finished with 37 points, six rebounds, five assists, and a steal while tallying the Road Warriors' final eight points to help them complete the comeback victory over the Elasto Painters.

“Sean is a valuable piece in our system because he can play multiple positions, plus yung binibigay niya is intensity inside the court na nadadala niya sa teammates niya,” Coach Boyet Fernandez described Anthony's contributions to his club.

The Saturday result pushed NLEX to seventh place, while it also dropped ROS to third and deprived the club of an outright semifinal seat.

Anthony prevailed over Ginebra's Greg Slaughter, who came up big against Talk 'n Text in the battle for the fourth seed, and Blackwater's Mike Cortez, who turned back time in leading his team to its first ever playoff stint.

The E-Painters will now have to undergo at least two more games to nail a semifinal slot, but they will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage come their playoff match against the tenth-seeded Elite.

Meanwhile, despite the win, the Road Warriors failed to nab the playoff bonus and will need to beat the sixth-seeded Tropang Texters twice to move to the quarterfinals proper.

The said pair of games will take place on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
