PASAY--One Championship president Victor Cui confirmed an online report on Friday that Chinese MMA fighter Yang Jian Bing passed away due to complications he suffered during training camp.

In an official statement he posted on his Facebook account, Cui said, “There is nothing more profoundly tragic and sad than when a member of the One Championship family, current or past, passes away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Yang Jian Bing. We will work closely with the family and offer all the support they need in any way we can during this very difficult time."

Yang, who was supposed to face Geje Eustaquio at One: Spirit of Champions at the Mall of Asia Arena later Friday, collapsed on Thursday during the final stages of his training because of dehydration. The said incident prompted One to call off the said bout.

Yang was pronounced dead at 12:06 p.m. Friday at the San Juan De Dios Hospital.

Gab Pangalanan of Dojo Drifter reported that Yang suffered from rhabdomyolysis, a complication that could take place among people who are looking to lose much weight.

But an official statement from One only described the cause of Yang's death as cardiopulmonary failure.

One began its Spirit of Champions card with a minute of silence and prayers for Yang, who died at 21.
