MANILA--Scoring 28 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in a game are expected for the likes of seven-foot Greg Slaughter and 6-10 June Mar Fajardo.

But seeing someone generously measured at 6-1 getting those stats is an astonishing feat, and it is deemed to be a winner of the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week.

Barako Bull's Willy Wilson took home the weekly individual honor for showing big heart despite the lack of height in the team's win over Talk 'n Text.

Wilson tallied 28 markers and 20 caroms in the said game and led the Energy to the bright side of a 105-98 result over the Tropang Texters, who boast big men Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario.

Wilson, who is making a career revival this season, edged Slaughter, Fajardo, and Mark Barroca for the said plum.

However, the former La Salle player said that he would still prefer a Barako win despite not-so-glaring stats than a huge game that goes down the drain because of poor team effort.

“I’m not a big stats guy. If I get the stats, great, as long as it contributes to a win. If I get the stats but we don’t win, it’s all for nothing. Nobody’s gonna read about, oh, Willy Wilson got this and that if the team lost,” he stated.
