LOS ANGELES--Jordan Clarkson once again expressed his desire to join Gilas Pilipinas for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and revealed that he is looking toward getting the go-signal to play in July.
"We're working on it right now. I'm just gonna do some stuff of FIBA.... I will definitely compete and try to get the [Gilas] boys to Rio. That'd be awesome," Clarkson said to reporter Mike Trudell in a video released by the Los Angeles Lakers in their website on Friday.
The interview, in which Trudell asked questions from the fans to Clarkson, was recorded on Wednesday (Philippine Time), hours after the Philippines was awarded one of the three hosting rights to the OQT.
Clarkson trained with Gilas last year in preparation for the FIBA Asia Championship but was not inserted to the final lineup because of the scheduling conflict between the international competition and the Lakers' preseason.
Should he complete all the necessary requirements, Clarkson will give Gilas a huge boost come the OQT at the Mall of Asia Arena.
