MANILA--Despite Greg Slaughter and Stanley Pringle making impressions in the first two rounds of the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs, Junemar Fajardo remained on top of the statistical points race for the Best Player of the Conference.
In a copy of the SP update obtained by Dugout Philippines on Tuesday, the San Miguel Beerman stayed at number one despite his 45.6 average SP's unmoved because of his team making the semifinals outright.
San Miguel will return to action after a 19-day Christmas hiatus as it takes on Rain Or Shine in Game 1 of their semifinal series.
Slaughter, although staying in second spot, actually dipped a bit to 43.2 average SP's after struggling in Ginebra's Christmas comeback win against Star. He and his team's campaign in the Philippine Cup ended after getting knocked out by GlobalPort two nights later.
Pringle zoomed past Sean Anthony at third spot with 38.1 average SP's after steering the Batang Pier to the semifinals.
Pringle's fellow GlobalPort star Terrence Romeo also made a jump in the stats race to seventh spot for his own contributions in the first round and the quarterfinals.
Romeo, according to chief statistician Fidel Mangonon, leapfrogged to fifth following his 41-point explosion on Alaska at the start of their own semifinal series on Monday night.
All eyes are on Fajardo, Pringle, and Romeo as they are the top players among the semifinalist teams.
The rookie rankings remained unscathed with Talk 'n Text's Troy Rosario and Moala Tautuaa staying first and second respectively.
However, Rain Or Shine's Maverick Ahanmisi can still take the top rookie spot after his club ousted TNT in the quarterfinals.
