ZURICH--For the fifth time, Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or outshining his rival, Portugal and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, and Barcelona teammate Neymar.
Claiming the award on Tuesday (Philippine Time), Messi received a total of 41.33 per cent of the votes, while Ronaldo (27.76 percent) was in second place and Neymar (7.86 percent) came in third.
Also, Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar were included in FIFPro World XI, together with Bayern's keeper Manuel Neuer, PSG defender Thiago Silva, Real Madrid's Marcelo and Sergio Ramos, and Barca's Dani Alves.
While for the midfield position, Barca's Andres Iniesta, Real Madrid's Luka Modric, and Juventus' promising player Paul Pogba completed the list.
