SAN JUAN, MM--Gretchel Soltones was given a special gift after she was named the NCAA women's volleyball tournament MVP on Tuesday, a reunion with her mom.
Soltones then showed to her what has she become.
Soltones fired 31 points and sealed San Sebastian's 25-22, 25-19, 26-28, 25-23 Finals Game 3 win over CSB at the FilOil Flying V Arena.
Soltones ended the match with the crosscourt spike as the Lady Stags prevented the Lady Blazers from sweeping the series and forced the deciding Game 4. The Lady Stags secured an outright finals berth plus a thrice-to-beat advantage after sweeping the eliminations, but the bonus instantly became a twice-to-beat disadvantage after getting buried to a 0-2 hole by the Lady Blazers.
While Soltones showed her MVP form on Tuesday night, her San Sebastian teammates joined the fray too.
Katherine Villegas chipped in 11 points, while Nikka Villegas made eight. Deniece Lim and Dangie Encarnacion showed Coach Roger Gorayeb he did not err in giving them a surprise start by scoring six markers each.
Jannine Navarro led CSB with 16.
