PASIG--All the teams in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup now have a win.
AMA finally ended its winless spell after trampling Wang's, 97-90, at the Ynares Sports Arena on Thursday.
Barely two hours after the Mindanao Aguilas barged to the win column by beating the BDO-NU Bulldogs, the Titans finally got their first victory by opening a huge margin against Couriers and withstood one last push from them.
AMA pulled away from Wang's early on, building a double-digit edge in the first quarter and extended it to as large as 19 near the end of the third.
The Couriers, however, went on a roll early in the fourth quarter, trimming the gap to as low as five, 86-81.
The Titans did not let the Couriers draw closer as they responded to every attack their opponents made in the endgame.
Jam Jamito made big-time contributions for AMA with 24 points, 18 rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and one steal.
RR De Leon tallied 22 points, five rebounds, and two assists and Jerramy King added 12 points including a dagger triple that helped the team regroup in time along with nine rebounds, 14 of the AMA's 27 total assists, and three steals.
James Mangahas had 21 markers, 11 boards, and seven dimes for Wang's, which are now at the cellar at 1-5.
