PASIG--Defending champion Ateneo made quick work of Far Eastern University, 25-18, 25-19, 25-13, to seize the solo lead of the UAAP men's volleyball tournament in their match at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday.

The Blue Eagles used their balanced attack, keeping the Tamaraws' defense clueless.

"We have to show ourselves na kailangang tapatan ang energy nila," said coach Oliver Almadro after Ateneo got its second straight win in as many matches.

Rex Intal and Ysay Marasigan finished with 11 hits apiece while reigning MVP Marck Espejo scored half of his 10 points from service aces for the Eagles.

Adamson University, with Dave Pletado, Jerome Sarmiento and Bryan Saraza tossing in 10 hits apiece, downed University of the East, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23, and tie FEU at 1-1 in the young season.
