Basas-led FEU weathers UE resurgence, bags first win

SAN JUAN, MM—A match predicted to be an easy game for the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws became interesting after the University of the East Lady Warriors snatched one set.

UE, however, still fell short of snapping its losing woes as FEU won the match in four sets, 25-18, 25-11, 21-25, 25-14, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Sunday night.

The first two sets proved no problem for FEU as UE had a difficulty receiving the opposing side’s loaded serves.

Toni Basas and Heather  Guino-o  led FEU’s offense all throughout the match.

The two spikers’ performance was an open development for FEU as main scorer from last season Bernadette Pons had to sit out the game due to back pain.

During the third set, UE surprised everyone when the team kept the game close and even led during the late part of the match.

UE got heavy contributions from team captain Shaya Adorador who ended the match with 23 points.

UE showed signs of life before crumbling to FEU’s strong offense distributed by the returning Gyzelle Sy.
