Cafe France bolsters bid for top seed with quashing of AMA

SAN JUAN, MM--Cafe France-CEU clobbered AMA, 97-78, in the first of two games pitting school-based PBA D-League teams at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Monday.

Already with a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, the Bakers stifled the Titans early on, opening a 22-10 first quarter lead and dealt more damage in the third quarter by scoring 34 points en route to the lopsided result.

Aaron Jeruta tallied 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals off the bench for Cafe France, which is now a half-game ahead of idle Caida for first place with one game left in its schedule.

Oda Tampus had 19 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal for AMA, which saw its lead for sixth place chopped to a half-game.
