SAN JUAN, MM--Caida survived a late push by Wang's and took a 110-106 win in the nightcap of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup doubleheader on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Up by as much as 15 points in the third quarter, the Tile Masters saw their lead being slowly erased by the Couriers, and the latter forced a 97-all tie.
But five straight points from Jason Perkins proved to be the pivotal plays for Caida as it reclaimed the lead and never lost hold of it in the end.
Perkins backstopped Jio Jalalon in scoring as he tallied 19 points even as the latter led the Tile Masters, who are now solely on top of the team standings at 3-0, with 22.
James Mangahas, John Montemayor, and Francis Munsayac each had 18 points for the Couriers.
