TAGUIG--UP was on a whirlwind ride in the past few days following the untimely death of Rogie Maglinas.
The Fighting Maroons hope that their gallant stand against the defending champions FEU Tamaraws on Sunday will put them back on the right track.
UP and FEU settled for a goalless draw at the start of the UAAP men's football tournament at the McKinley Hill Stadium.
Before kickoff, a moment of silence was offered in memory of Maglinas, who passed away due to complications brought about by rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer case, on Tuesday, a few days before he would have turned 20.
The Tamaraws stepped on the gas early into their Final Four rematch, but they failed to find the target as Ace Villanueva held his ground in the first half.
In the second half, it was Ray Joyel's turn to showcase his goalkeeping prowess as the Maroons threatened to strike, ending up successful in his saves.
FEU had one last gasp, but Villanueva once again kept his poise as he kept a clean sheet as UP's goalie.
