MANILA--Forza got a goal from an unlikely source to pip Agila-MSA, 1-0 to start the 2016 UFL Cup on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Gerald Orcullo accidentally slotted the ball in his own goal five minutes from time that spelled doom for Agila.
The former Division 2 rivals looked even in the first half with some shots that went wide and far between.
Kyul Park had his effort blocked in the 30th minute The same went for Harold Alcoresa, who not just had his shot saved but also muffed his rebound effort as well.
The second half was the same as the first half as both clubs held their nerve defensively with several free kicks blocked by their walls.
However, Forza got their breakthrough on a defensive miscue by Agila as Orcullo cleared the ball on his own net in the 85th minute, giving the Muntinlupa-based club its opening win in Group A action.
