Malaysia ends Pilipinas' whirlwind season on sour note, tops ABL at end of elims

KUALA LUMPUR--Malaysia finished the elimination round of the ABL season on a high note with a 103-86 drubbing of Pilipinas at the MABA Stadium on Sunday.

The Dragons exploded for 36 points in the second quarter and pulled away for good from the Kings in the fourth quarter to finish their preliminary campaign at 16-4.

Matthew Wright led Malaysia, which will enter the semifinals as the number one seed as the team owns the tiebreaker against Singapore, which is playing Saigon as of posting, with 33 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while Jason Brickman added 24 points, four rebounds, ten assists, and two steals.

William Creekmore tallied 31 markers, 18 boards, and one dime for Pilipinas, which ended what has been a tumultuous debut season in last place with a 2-18 card.

In what could be the final game of his illustrious professional basketball career, Willie Miller contributed 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

The Dragons will face the Heat in the playoffs.
