MANILA--PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa gave Ivan Johnson a second chance in the league.

Narvasa reduced Johnson's penalty for his actions on him in a Talk 'n Text game on Saturday to a season-long suspension after the latter personally apologized to the former on Tuesday.

The commissioner handed the new ruling on Wednesday, and it also includes the lowering the import's fine to PHP150 thousand.

Narvasa initially meted Johnson a lifetime ban plus a PHP250 thousand fine for hurling slurs after he committed a flagrant foul in the said Saturday game won by Meralco.

Johnson, however, voluntarily summoned himself in front of Narvasa on Tuesday at the PBA office to personally say sorry apart from his public apology on Facebook and Twitter on Sunday.

With the new sanction, Johnson, who will depart for the United States on Saturday, will still be eligible to play for next year's Commissioner's Cup.
