RC-Army goes 3-0 after beating San Jose

BIÑAN--RC-Army bucked off a surprisingly sluggish start to repulse San Jose in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15, in Matchday 3 of the PSL Invitational at the Alonte Sports Arena on Tuesday.

The Victorias made a blistering start to match, opening a 6-3 Set 1 lead behind Lourdes Clemente, Coleen Bravo, and Jam Suyat.

Royse Tubino and Jovelyn Gonzaga then led the Lady Troopers' 7-1 run to take a 10-7 advantage.

San Jose put up one more run to equalize, 11-all, but it was all RC-Army for the remainder of the opening period and would continue its dominance the rest of the way.

Gonzaga led the Lady Troopers, who have now won three straight to start the conference, with 14 points off ten spikes, three aces, and a block, while Tubino added 11 markers. Rachel Anne Daquis also joined the scoring parade and contributed 12.

“We gained a lot of confidence after surviving their fight back in the first set, giving us an easy time in the next two sets,” said Army coach Kung Fu Reyes, who missed his team's win against F2 in Malolos because of UST's UAAP match on Saturday.
