MANILA--A literal mini-Olympiad for e-sports, anyone?
For the first time ever, an e-sports tournament series similar to the Southeast Asian Games will take place on March 18-20.
Dubbed as the ASEAN Games of E-Sports or simply AGES, the said tournament is a brainchild of the ASEAN Confederation of E-Sports or ACES, consisting of the e-sports NSA's of each ASEAN member nation.
The Electronic Sports of Malaysia will take charge of the first organizing of the event, effectively making Malaysia the host country of this year's AGES.
While its non-e-sports counterpart gives away gold medals to each of the champions, the AGES will give away cash prizes to the top finishers of the DOTA 2, CS: GO, and FIFA 16 tournaments with a total of RM1 million (PHP11.51 million) at stake.
Details for the Philippine qualifiers will be revealed at a later date.
