Star crumples Blackwater for first win

QUEZON CITY--Star finally notched its first win of the PBA Commissioner's Cup after mauling Blackwater, 122-103, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Hotshots played fluid basketball leading to 30 assists and pulled away for good in the second quarter to snap a 0-3 start in the conference.

Denzel Bowles led Star with 28 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two blocks, while Allein Maliksi added 23 points, five rebounds, one assist, and two steals off the bench.

MJ Rhett tallied 30 markers, 21 rebounds, and six dimes for Blackwater, which saw its first-ever winning streak snapped at two.
