DHAKA--Adrian Gallardo’s first half brace gave Ceres its maiden AFC Cup win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, 2-0, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday night.

In the 25th minute, Adrian scored the opening goal for reigning UFL champions The Spanish striker took advantage of the bounce from his compatriot Bienvenido Marañon to fire a left-footed volley that trickled past Sahidul Alam.

With the match tilted in their favor, the hero from a fortnight ago then bagged his brace for Ceres four minutes later, as he received a well-placed pass from Stephan Schrock with his right boot that leave the beleaguered Alam no chance.

The home side's day went from bad to worse as the club was reduced to ten men with fourteen minutes left as centerback Yeasin Khan was sent off for receiving a red card on a harsh tackle on Kevin Ingreso.

Frank Muescan's Busmen zoomed ahead to second in the Group E table with four points as Singapore's Tampines Rovers shock Malaysia's Selangor away, 1-0, in the other match to remain unbeaten in the group with six maximum points in two matches.

The win also eased their stinging loss to Global last Thursday in the UFL Cup as they face the undefeated Stags in a top of the group clash next week at the Lion City.
