MANILA--Loyola unleashed its full power as it electrocuted a listless Nomads side, 11-0 to conclude the UFL Cup Group Stage on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Only needed to win by two goals to get 3rd place in Group B, the Sparks unleashed a scoring overdrive with Spanish forward Alvaro Castiella netting a double hat-trick as well as braces by James Younghusband and Jason De Jong and a strike by Jake Morallo cap off their Group B stint in style, overtaking Green Archers United in third by goal difference despite tied with nine points.
Simon McMenemy's Sparks outclassed their victims in all aspects, with their defense limiting the Parañaque-based club to just three shots on goal as they prepare to face arch rival and reigning holder Kaya in the quarterfinals next month.
Nomads suffered the ignominy of becoming the only club that has been shut out the entire tournament, languishing at the cellar with 38 goals conceded and did not even score at least once.
