SAN JUAN, MM--Billy Robles and Philip Paniamogan joined forces to help Caida Tile break away from BDO-NU, 89-68, and end the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup eliminations with a win Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Robles dropped all of his 11 points in the third quarter, while Paniamogan scored six of his 12 markers in the period, along with four assist, as the Tile Masters fired a 17-0 run abridging the third and fourth frames to take a 67-47 lead with 8:53 remaining.

Jonathan Grey led his squad with 20 points and five dimes, while Roider Cabrera went 3-of-6 from threes to end up with 12 markers, all chipping in to take a 24-point lead, 89-65, late in the game.

"I think we just played good in the second half. We started hitting our shots and allowed everybody to try to get confidence for the next round against AMA," said coach Caloy Garcia.

Caida Tile (7-1) wound up at second place after the eliminations, and will own a twice-to-beat incentive when it faces the Titans next Tuesday.

Alfred Aroga had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the defeat for BDO-NU (2-6).

In the first game, Phoenix-FEU eliminated Mindanao with a 90-80 victory.

Mac Belo paced the Accelerators with 24 points and six rebounds, while Ed Daquioag returned to his old form with 22 markers, four assists, and three boards.

Mike Tolomia also got a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, alongside five assists, while Russel Escoto had a double-double with 10 markers and 12 boards.

"Confidence builder sya and at the same time, we don't want to go to the quarters with a losing record," said coach Eric Gonzales.

A 21-point third quarter allowed Phoenix-FEU to create a 60-53 breathing room and easily sail to the finish.

Ken Acibar led Mindanao with 18 points in the losing effort.

At 1-7, the Aguilas ended their first conference tied at the bottom with Wangs Basketball. However, Mindanao is the lone team to miss the playoffs due to the Couriers' 97-88 win last Jan. 28.
