PASIG--Despite playing for a mid-major squad, JK Casiño pulled off an epic performance in last year's FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup as he helped CEU shock then champion La Salle by his clutch three-point shooting.

On Thursday, he tried to pull an encore of it in Game 1 of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Finals as he scored all of his 11 points in the second half of the game against the Phoenix-FEU Accelerators for the Scorpions, who go by the name Cafe France Bakers.

Asked by Dugout Philippines on which he thinks has a better bearing among the two explosions against the UAAP squads, the clutch shooter said, "Para sa akin, kahit na mas marami yung ini-score ko noong nakaraan, mas matimbang yung ngayon kasi mas higher yung level dito," emphasizing the fact that it was a finals game in the pro league's second tier.

However, unlike last year when the reigning NAASCU and D-League Foundation Cup champs pulled away from the Green Archers, the Bakers had to play the chaser's role against the reigning UAAP and PCCL champions for most of the game and that its late comeback bid fell short.

"Sabi nga sa huddle namin kanina, lumabas lang yung laro namin noong fourth quarter. Yung first to third, parang overwhelmed kami sa kalaban. Sana, kung yung game namin sa fourth quarter mas nagawa namin earlier, mas naging interesting pa yung game.... Kahit naman maka-score ako ng 30, kung talo kami, wala namang mangyayari," Casiño further said.

He then vowed, "Magka-comeback kami [sa Game 2 sa Tuesday]. Di pwedeng mas mababa ang ipapakita namin."
