PASIG--Phoenix-FEU coach Eric Gonzales revealed to media members that he quoted a Scripture to his team during the pre-game huddle for Game 1 of the PBA D-League Finals at the Ynares Sports Arena.

"Sabi ko sa kanila, 'Yung [Cafe France-CEU], gusto ring manalo, pero sasabihin ko sa inyo, "Faith without works is dead,"'" Gonzales bared after the game, emphasizing that it still takes effort to back up their beliefs.

The efforts bore fruit after the Accelerators drew first blood in the championship round against their fellow college-based squad Bakers on Thursday.

He also said that he anticipated Cafe France's comeback albeit a little too late.

"Ine-expect namin yun. Ang importante ay huwag huminto.... Sabi ko sa kanila, 'There's no such thing as perfect defense.' Ang importante ay perfect effort," Gonzales continued.
