MANILA—He may somewhat be a newbie in the Philippines, but Robbie Herndon showed that he's got game.

Just barely a month in the country following a stint with San Francisco State, the 22-year-old Fil-Am made waves by winning the first Red Bull King of the Rock Philippines tournament, and he did it in style.

Herndon trounced no less than PBA legend Willie Miller in the championship game of the 1-on-1 tilt, banking on late triples to take the 21-19 win at the Baluarte De Dilao on Saturday night.

For the newly crowned Philippine representative to the King of the Rock World Championship in Istanbul, having Miller as his opponent is an honor.

"He's strong, but I've had a lot of fun going up against him in the championship," Herndon told some media people after the final.

On the other hand, he said that he actually anticipated Miller, who had to repulse SWU's Mark Tallo and AMA's Jerramy King in the earlier rounds, to make the final.

"I expected him to get there.... It's [a] good [time playing with him]," Herndon further said.
