MANILA--Balestier Khalsa's Marko Kraljevic brushed off his club's ironic all-competition season start as he aims for a good result against Kaya in Matchday 3 of the AFC Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.
Balestier, currently leading Group F of the continental tournament with four points after two games, is curiously seventh in the S-League with only three points to show after four matches.
But in the pre-match presser at the Century Park Hotel on Monday, the German-Croatian mentor finds the AFC Cup a more must-win competition.
"The AFC Cup is a very short tournament. We have to win the games. You can never recover if you keep losing here. In the S-League, you can try out some new plays early on since the season is long," Kraljevic said.
Kaya assistant coach Joel Villarino agreed and said, "Expect a tough game tomorrow. Everyone wants to win tomorrow.
However, Kraljevic also said that he can accept a draw in the match scheduled at a 7:30 p.m. kickoff that could determine the team that will finish on top of the group after the first round of the double round robin group stage.
"A draw is something we want here, but if we win, it will be a good result," he continued.
