La Salle tries to solidify leadership against Adamson

QUEZON CITY--De La Salle tries to pull away from the rest of the field even as defending champion Far Eastern University seeks to halt a two-match slide on Thursday in the UAAP Season 78 men's football tournament at the Moro Lorenzo Field.

The Green Archers takes on an Adamson University side who are making good account of themselves in the last two matches at 1 p.m.

The Tamaraws clash with last place University of the East in the day's other fixture at 3 p.m.

De La Salle, last season's runners-up, is still holding the top of the table with 13 points, two clear of second-running University of Santo Tomas.

The Archers remained unbeaten this season following last Sunday's 1-0 victory over the Red Warriors.

Coach Hans Smit's side has four wins and a draw to show.

After last Thursday's breakthrough 1-0 triumph over UE, Adamson University gave University of the Philippines fits before yielding a late goal, losing 0-1 last Sunday to remain at three points.

The season has been a trying one for the Tamaraws, who are coming off a 0-1 defeat to the Growling Tigers.

Rookie striker Rico Andes is impressive so far, but FEU, which is mired in sixth spot at three points, is sorely missing the services of injured star Nano Amita.

The Warriors, meanwhile, have not yet been on target this season, as the Recto-based booters are still goalless in five matches.
