SAN JUAN, MM--Phoenix-FEU turned up the heat in the final stages of Game 1 of the best-of-three PBA D-League Aspirants Cup semifinals to trounce Caida, 90-83, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Tuesday.
Engaging in a close encounter for the latter stages of the first half and most of the second half, the Accelerators used a 12-1 run within the last five minutes of the game to steal the victory from the Tile Masters, who were the favorites to win following their 17-point blowout of the Accelerators in their lone elimination round meeting.
Ed Daquioag exploded for 32 points with eight rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks, while Mac Belo added 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals off the bench and Russel Escoto accomplished a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds alongside one block for Phoenix-FEU, which can clinch the series next week.
Jonathan Grey tallied 14 markers, four rebounds, and one assist even as Jio Jalalon flirted with a triple-double after making nine markers, seven boards, and seven dimes along with two steals for Caida.
