MANILA--Raymond Aguilar is making a strong case in convincing the PBA teams to give him a second chance at professional basketball as he leads the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup MVP race after the eliminations.

The UP-QRS-JAM center topped the statistical points race after the opening round with 34.9 SP's, ahead of the Phoenix-FEU combo of Mike Tolomia (33.8) and Mac Belo (33.4).

The former NU Bulldog is feeling at home with the Fighting Maroons as he leads them with 17.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and two assists a ballgame during the eliminations.

Tolomia, who has beautifully embraced the point guard role, put up averages of 15.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 0.9 steal a match highlighted by the league's second triple-double ever on Feb. 2 against AMA.

Belo, who like Tolomia is a projected first round pick in the PBA Draft, tallied 20.5 points, five rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.8 block, and 0.5 steal a game in the eliminations, featuring a new league scoring record 41 points against Caida on Feb. 15.

Speaking of Caida, its star point guard, Jio Jalalon, also made the Top 5 with 30.4 SP's, immediately behind Cafe France-CEU's Carl Cruz, who has 30.9 SP's.
